Jacksonville - Each year the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) presents one engineer in the State of Florida with the Governor A.W. Gilchrist Award, which is named for former Speaker of the House and Governor of the State of Florida, Albert Walter Gilchrist, an engineer by profession and a renowned humanitarian who devoted much of his career to improving the lives of ordinary Floridians.

Senators and State Representatives number among the former winners of this prestigious award, which this year will be handed out to Peter J. Sheridan, P.E., Director of Civil Engineering and CEI for the Jacksonville operations of Keith and Schnars, who through his “civic leadership,” public service, and professional dedication has brought “honor” and distinction to the state’s “engineering profession.”

Mr. Sheridan will be presented with this year’s Gilchrist Award at the upcoming FICE Summer Conference & Exposition, to be held August 1-4 at the Marco Island Marriott Resort.
